Memorable moments with Late Shri J N Vyas Period 1965-1968
After passing my middle class, I came to SUJANGARH (DISTRICT CHURU-RAJ) in the month of June, 1965 and took admission in commerce faculty of PCB School.
I was staying with my maternal grandmother. It was my great fortune that my class teacher in 9th std. was Shri J. N. Vyas. He taught us English in the first period. Because of height, I was allotted first raw and I came in direct contact with Sir. Because of personality of Sir not only my class students, the entire school students were maintaining strict discipline. I was also having fear in my mind therefore to be silent as well as keep safe distance from Sir.
My residence was hardly 100 meters away from his residence. Once my maternal grandmother approached him and requested him to guide me in my studies. He agreed happily to this and called me at his home in the evening. My first visit at his home for meeting was an acid test for me and also a turning point in my life.
Thereafter, daily evening visits became a normal routine for me. After AARTI of Guru Maharaj, he would begin teaching me along with some of his family members. He always treated me as a member of his family. First time, I learnt AARTI in MARATHI LANGUAGE, some of which I still remember as on date.
I stood first Division in 9th standard and Sir continued as my class teacher in 10th Std also. I remember one instance. After returning from Ajmer, he met my maternal grandmother and informed her that I secured first division in Xth Board Examination and she offered GUR as sweet which Sir happily accepted.
I have never seen such a humble person like him in my life time. One day some parent came to him with their children and requested him to take their tuition. They offered a fee for the same. Sir refused to charge any tuition fees for teaching the students. I still remembers the reply given by sir to the parents’ “I have been paid by the Government for teaching and it will be a sin for me if I charge from Students. If you trust me, you can send your children with a condition that the students will have to maintain strict discipline.”
I remember another instance. In the school all the teachers knew that I am very close to Sir. The marriage of his daughter Ms. Vijay Laxmi was fixed at Jodhpur. He was hard honest and having eight members in his family, therefore hardly could save for any contingency.
One day, the Head master of PCB School (Shri Sitaram ji Dadhich) called me in his office. I was fearful as to why he has called me? When I entered in his office, 3-4 teachers were also present there. Head Masterji told me that, I have to convey their massage to Sir. They are aware that Shri J N Vyas is short of fund for marriage and they (the teachers) want to help him financially.
When I conveyed the massage to Sir he replied “Yes, I am short of funds, but do not need any financial aid. If they want, I can accept their help on a returnable basis. “
One should have such a principle of life “to accept the facts and have courage to tell the truth”.
I came to Mumbai after completing my graduation from BANGUR COLLEGE, DIDWANA in the year 1971 and completed my chartered accountancy course in the Year January 1975 and settled in Mumbai. I have visited many times to his house located in kabutaron KA chowk, JODHPUR. Whenever I offered prasad to GURUMAHARAJ, he always returned prasad after offering.
In my life he played a major role as my true Teacher, Guru and Guardian. He moulded me to be a good student, guided me to build a good carrier and took care of me as a father along with his children.
